On December 10~12, China Mine Geological Environment Protection and Management Recovery Academic Exchange Conference was held in Zunyi City, Guizhou Province. The conference revealed that from 2000 to 2013, the central government arranged 26.997 billion yuan of special funds for mine geological environment management, implemented 1,934 mine geological environment management projects, and the central government investment drove local finance and enterprises to invest 46 billion yuan of funds.

According to the introduction, China's mine geological environment protection and treatment work has made great achievements. As of 2009, after restoration and treatment, the country has restored land area of about 496,000 hectares, managed 5,195 mine geological disasters, managed ground cracks and ground collapse of 3,037. The national mine geological environment management work has entered a stage of adjustment and improvement, and the focus and direction of project investment has shifted from supporting many small projects with little funding to supporting major projects in the past.

At the same time, experts pointed out that some management projects go against the laws of nature, resulting in the phenomenon of "one year green, two years barren, three years dead" exists to varying degrees, and measures must be taken to avoid it. Some treatment projects planted plants do not adapt to the local environment, resulting in mine geological environment restoration effect can not be sustained.

Experts suggest that mine rehabilitation should first of all master the local and mountain all geological, meteorological and other information, regional forest survey, and fully consider the diversity of species of substrate configuration, as well as the plant community and other factors, so that the slope stability, overall regreening, soil and water conservation, restore the original mountain appearance.

The selected plants should emphasize adapting to the climate and soil characteristics of the region, mainly trees, combining grass, wood and flowers, both localized and diversified, and introducing a small number of exotic harmless species when necessary to achieve the restoration effect of maintenance-free and natural growth.

The conference was co-sponsored by China Association of Geological Disaster Prevention and Control Engineering and Guizhou Department of Land and Resources, and organized by 106 Geological Brigade of Guizhou Geological and Mining Bureau, with the aim of exchanging ideas on how to effectively protect the geological environment of mines, realize the coordinated development of resource development and geological environmental protection, and promote the construction of "harmonious mining areas".
