From April 6 to 8, 2018, the First Symposium on Mine Environmental Pollution and Remediation, hosted by South China University of Technology (SCUT) and organized by the Key Laboratory of Pollution Control and Ecological Remediation in Industrial Agglomerations of the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of Biometallurgy of the Ministry of Education and the School of Environment and Energy of SCUT, was held at SCUT in Guangzhou, with the theme of "Strengthening Mine Environmental Protection and Keeping the "Green Water and Green Mountain".

The conference was divided into 22 presentations, with more than 250 experts and scholars from the Institute of Geochemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangdong Institute of Ecological and Environmental Technology, Central South University and other famous research institutes in China attending the conference.

Academician Liu Congqiang from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Academician Qiu Guanzhou from Chinese Academy of Engineering gave academic reports on the current situation of environmental pollution in mines, pollution remediation and future development trend. Shen Yifeng, vice general manager of the company, attended the meeting as a representative of the enterprise, and discussed with the participating scholars, experts and academicians around various issues such as "scientific research and management", "basic research and technology application", and exchanged and shared the theory and technology of advanced mine ecological remediation.
